Hi Sam, I love your recipe! it’s my go-to every time I make pound cake! everybody loves it! I add my own little tweaks to it for instance to the eggs and egg yolks I always add a little bit of lemon zest and lime zest and I squeeze a little bit of both to the eggs I also add extra vanilla extract! I also bake my pound cake until about 55 minutes and then I check it every 5 to 7 minutes until the toothpick comes out with a few crumbs to make sure I don’t over bake! It comes out perfect every time!! Thank You!!

Hi Lee! I wouldn’t recommend self rising flour here. You would likely need to make alterations and I just haven’t tried it so I can’t say for sure what you would need to do.

Delicious recipe!
I was a little nervous trying this recipe after reading some of the comments.
I decided to just do half the portions listed
& baked it in a 9×13.
I made sure my batter was more of a whipped batter than thick like cake.
It was airy & dense with a nice crumble on the top. I made some homemade whip cream with fresh strawberries from the garden. It was a treat
Will definitely

Made the pound cake this morning and made your glaze from the Bundt cake. We live in a high rise condo in Houston and my wife’s 3 sisters live in the building also. Together, I call them the Coven. They declared it delicious. I did find that I heeded your comment about over baking. When I checked the cake at 1 hour, 10 minutes, a piece of uncooked fettuccini I used in place of a wooden skewer came out with what I thought was wet batter. I put it back in for 3 minutes. In retrospect, it was probably done enough. It is fine, but probably would have been just as fine absent that final 3 minutes. I hasten to say the cake is superb. I did discover the limitations of my stand mixer. It is a Kitchen Aid “Stand Lift” as opposed to the tilt head version. The stand lift restricts your ability to scrape the bowl. Also, there are no glass bowls to use. Oh well, Thank You Muchly for the recipe and video. Much appreciated. I have a photo if. you want to see it.

So glad you mentioned this. It is the exact purpose for making this myself and I was wondering if it would fit in a casserole dish. I want to cube it.

Hi Beth! I have not personally tried making this gluten free. I would think a 1:1 gluten free flour could work though. šŸ™‚

Can I use gluten-free flour (made with rice) instead? Just a quick fyi… I can’t use almond flour because of nut allergies.

I’m so sorry to hear this happened! What is the capacity of your pan? This makes a good bit of batter so you need your pan to be able to hold 12 cups of batter. šŸ™

I’m so glad you enjoyed it so much, Robin! You could use a 16 cup pan, but your bake time may change a little bit so keep an eye on it. šŸ™‚

The only thing was that the 12-cup Bundt pan was a bit too short. I’m planning to try the 16-cup Bundt pan next time, as the sides are taller. Do you recommend this. Thanks so much for all your wonderful recipes!

Hi Nicole! I haven’t personally tried it so I can’t say for sure how it would turn out. I think it could potentially work, but I’m not sure on a bake time. Let me know how it goes if you try it. šŸ™‚

Hi Joyce! Is that an extract? If so you can use it. It will just change the flavor of the cake. I’m not sure if you’d need to adjust the amount or not.

I found this recipe a few years ago and it is truly the perfect pound cake. I have not strayed from it since I discovered it! Even when egg prices went sky-high, I still stayed loyal to this 12-egg recipe, lol! It’s perfectly dense and moist (my favorite things about pound cakes), and the crust gets perfectly crunchy. During strawberry season, this goes great with some strawberries and homemade whipped cream on top.
