It’s not running hotter, but they baked up beautifully inside. I will put a pan underneath about halfway through next time. We enjoyed them so much!!! Thank you for the recipe!

Hi Pam! I’m so sorry to hear this happened! Is your oven running hotter than it says it is? Are they fully cooked inside? If they are fully cooked I wouldn’t keep baking them.

I put a pan underneath during the last 15 minutes. Should I reduce my oven temp and just cook longer? Any other recommendations? They taste wonderful otherwise!

Thank you so much for trying my recipe, Lori! I’m so glad everyone enjoyed it! I have to be secretive about cutting the tops off of mine or else my husband will also make them disappear. 🀣

OHHHHH YEAAAH! These bread bowls are soooo good with my homemade broccoli, cheddar, potato, bacon soup!! Will be making these a lot! My husband came in the kitchen while they were baking and said, “that smell reminds me of the lunch ladies cooking lunch in elementary school when we were kids!”. We’re in our mid-60’s and back then they cooked everything homemade! Hubby ate the tops I cut off these before I could even get the soup in the bread bowls! lol

I use your pizza dough recipe every other week for homemade pizza, it always turns out amazing so I tried the bread bowls, AWESOME!!!! We are having family over for Christmas and my wife wanted something different to put dip in, why not a bread bowl. They are just done baking and the house smells wonderful, cannot wait until we get to eat them. Thanks always for fantastic and excellent recipes.

Hi Jennifer! I haven’t personally tried it, but I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t work. πŸ™‚

Hi Sheila! I think you can add some. Typically the easiest way to do it is to weigh your sourdough starter, cut that weight in half and then use that measurement to reduce the water and flour in the dough by that same amount. If that makes sense. Enjoy! πŸ™‚

Hi Debra! I’m not familiar with using a bread machine so unfortunately I am not able to comment on how/if it will work. πŸ™ If you do try it I would love to know how it goes. πŸ™‚

I haven’t tried a substitute so I can’t say for sure how it would work.

In reply to Grace.

I use a plastic shower cap to cover my bowl. This reduces waste since it can be used many times.
if you oil your bowl well enough and turn the dough to coat, the dough shouldn’t stick to anything.

Hi Ruth! You can leave it out, but the bread bowls won’t be as moist and flavorful. πŸ™

Sam, can you leave out the sugar in the flour without consequence or compromise? The added sugar for a diabetic is added trouble as the bread itself is a carbo blast.
Thanks.

Hi Kristin! I haven’t tried using instant yeast so I can’t say exactly how it would need to be done. Let me know how it goes if you try it. πŸ™‚

Hi Grace! The dough shouldn’t rise enough to get to the towel. Cling wrap will work as well. πŸ™‚

I made this for my family last weekend, and it was so much of a hit that they asked for it again this weekend. Is there a difference in using towel to cover when rising versus covering the bow with cling wrap? Won’t the towel stick to the dough when it rises?
