Hi Mary Ann! We would estimate you would need about ⅓-½ cup.

How much of that curd do I need to make the frosting as shown on this page?

Hi Amy! Unfortunately I haven’t measured it out. I think it would be about 6-7 ounces, but I can’t say for sure. 🙁

Can’t wait to make it for my mother’s 85th birthday cake. I just made a batch and a half of your full lemon curd recipe (not the smaller one written here for the frosting), as I want to put curd between the cake layers as well. How much should I add to the frosting? Do you have a measured amount? Thank you!

Hi Stephanie! If you are doubling the recipe you will want to double all of the ingredients in the recipe. 🙂

If you wanted to double the recipe you would just double all of the ingredients in the recipe. 🙂

Hi Helen! I think this comment was meant for another recipe, but yes this frosting will cover a 2 layer 9 inch cake. 🙂

Hi Stephanie! Short of increasing all of the other ingredients I don’t really have a great solution. 🙁

I accidentally misread the lemon juice measurement so now the frosting is too lemony. How can I fix that?

Hi Teresa! Unfortunately I have not experimented using mascarpone instead of butter.

This frosting is the only lemon frosting I will ever use! It has the best lemon flavor I have tasted in a frosting so far without being too sweet. Paired beautifully with your lemon blueberry cake that I made for my Godson’s 5th birthday party. Everyone raved about it and even asked where the cake was bought! Thank you for sharing your recipes and techniques with us!

Hi Alicia! This recipe makes about 1/3 cup (in the frosting). The regular lemon curd is slightly thinner so you may need a little less. I would add it gradually to make sure the frosting doesn’t become too thin.

Are you able to tell me how much total lemon curd is in this recipe? I ask because I already made a double batch of your curd and it’s in my fridge. Some of it has been eaten so I can’t even do the math to reverse engineer how much of my existing curd I need to use! I plan to make this frosting this weekend when I make your lemon blueberry cake.
