It should work in a 9 x 13, but you would probably have to double the recipe to get enough to fill the pan. πŸ™‚

Hi Elle! I wouldn’t recommend it as it may not set up properly. πŸ™

Hi Andrea! I haven’t personally tried it without the filling being mixed in as well, but you would need about 285g of shells. Let me know how it turns out if you try it. πŸ™‚

I’ve tried many chocolate pie type recipes and by far, this is my family’s favorite!

It really depends on the temp of your house. If your house tends to be cool, 65F or lower, then it will take ages for the cream cheese to soften. If your house is warm, 75f or higher, it will take roughly 2 hours. In a pinch, you can put the cream cheese in a bowl and microwave it for half a minute at a time to soften it up before adding it to any recipe – works with butter that needs to be soft for a recipe too! Since my house tends to be very cool (55F or lower at night), I generally will remove the (unopened only!) bricks of cream cheese from the fridge the night before I want to cook with them.

Hi Jamie, I’m so sorry about the confusion, I modified the recipe card to fix this!

I’m confused on the powdered sugar. For the filling it says 1/2 cup (65g). Then the topping it says 1 cup (25g). Am I using a cup or just 25g?

Such an excellent dessert – very user-friendly and delicious. Made for my husband’s bday and it was a great success. Personally I think the chocolate mud filling and whipped cream would be great on their own if you don’t want to do the whole thing.

It would be super helpful to have a bit of guidance on how soft the cream cheese – I let mine sit out for hours but it was still clumpy mixing in with everything else. Next time I’ll soften more aggressively.

Thanks Sam for all your work on these!
