I had a similar experience and also thought the dough should be chilled longer. Also we may just like the cakier cookies than the chewy flatter ones that melted butter produces. My best version used to be half butter and half Crisco using the recipe on the package. I may return to that.

I’m so sorry to hear this happened, Ruth? Did your butter cool completely before adding the sugars?

I don’t know what I did wrong as my cookies came very flat. I did chill for 30 minutes, maybe needed to chill longer. I used a scale to weigh the flour. They still taste good and are good and soft jut much thinner than what I was hoping for.

Hi Cynthia! I hope you love these! You can certainly scoop the cookie dough before refrigerating. Enjoy! 🙂

Hands down the best chocolate chip cookies I have ever made. Blows nestle toll house away. The flavors definitely better but the texture is amazing. They are thick, soft and chewy!! The adding of the chips on top really makes it shine. I will never use another recipe. Gourmet, first class all the way!!!!!

I have so many chocolate chip cookie recipes but this is the cookie I’ve been searching for! Soft, not chewy or tacky, butter flavor comes through, slightly crispy bottom that pairs SO well with the gooey but set center.

Excited to try this recipe! Loved your “Worst” chocolate chip cookies and your peanut butter chocolate chip cookie recipes.

I was wondering if I can scoop the cookie dough into balls and then chill in the fridge for 30 minutes instead of chilling the dough and then scooping.

Thank you!

Hi Jean! Are your dough balls similar in size to the ones in the video? If so they should be pretty close to the same bake time. 🙂

However, I see that the yield is 25 commits and I have 40 measured and weighed. Should I cut the baking time?

We’re so happy you enjoyed the cookies, Elizabeth! Are you adding your dry ingredients gradually, or dumping them all in at once? It’s important to add them a little at a time so the flour can properly absorb. Otherwise, the issue might be a bit too much flour in the dough; we talk more about this in the FAQ section of the post. Hope that helps! 🙂

Made these and loved them.
Just one question; when I add the flour mixture to the eggs and sugar, the dough gets very dry. I add a splash of water but it can end up messing up the product…
Any advise?

Hi Scott! If you want to use maple syrup in the cookie I would recommend my worst chocolate chip cookies. 🙂

What are the minimum and maximum amounts of maple sugar and/or maple syrup. Any other thoughts about maple additions?

Hi Charlotte! You will need to replace it with flour. The cookies won’t be quite as soft and tender without the cornstarch.

Yes, I did the melted butter cool completely. I baked them for our local Meals on Wheels and I haven’t heard any negative comments, so I guess they passed the taste test, just not so pretty.

I’m so sorry to hear this happened, Connie! When you made the dough did you let the butter cool before adding it to the sugars? If not it can melt the sugars and make the cookies spread. 🙁

They were frozen before I baked them, and I let them sit for 5 minutes and then baked them for 11 minutes at 350. Any thoughts?
