Wow, these were incredible. This will be my new go-to recipe! I used arrowroot powder instead of cornstarch and I didn’t use baking powder because I didn’t have any. Turned out absolutely phenomenal!

Worst chocolate chip cookies are Best I ever made . They are delicious hold shape , did not spread . 13 minutes perfect time. I let them finish on baking sheet. My husband ate two immediately. Thank you for a great recipe

Cookies turn uncook in the middle even after cool down on cookie sheet.

I have made this recipe several times and despite following the recipe exactly, including weighing ingredients, chilling dough for 3 hours cookies leave the oven nicely plump but immediately flatten out🙁

The absolute WORST!! 😉 They were even better after sitting in a container on the counter overnight! Gooey and moist! I made a double batch and I’m so glad I did. Definitely adding to my must bake list as the best “worst” cookies ever! Thank you so much for sharing!!!

Amazing cookies! The entire family LOVED them!! Was told by a neighbor they are better than Mom’s. That says alot!! They are definitely my favorite to make now.

Sadly, I too, was underwhelmed by this recipe. I used the highest-quality ingredients, including real maple syrup from Vermont, excellent butter and Ghirardelli chocolate chips. They were easy to make, but next time, if there is a next time, I would brown the butter and maybe add a little more maple syrup. They just didn’t have nearly the flavor I expected them to have, unfortunately, and I hate to say this! I am taking them to a potluck today and they are definitely “good enough“, But I really wanted to wow my friends. The cookies do look good and spread perfectly and they are chewy enough, but I just wish they had a little more flavor. Maybe they will be better today, since I made them last night.

I have entered several chocolate chip cookie recipes into my computer files over the years. I rated a few of them as 5 stars, and I couldn’t decide which was my most favorite. Last week, I discovered your site and I tried making “the worst recipe” . Wow! It is the easiest of all of the cookie recipes in my files. I don’t even need a mixer to make the cookies. More importantly, this is the best chocolate chip cookie recipe that I have ever made. They are delicious! My husband agrees, and this recipe is now the only 5 star recipe in my cookie file. Fantastic recipe! The name caught my attention and since my cookies were turning out like hockey pucks, figured I’d give it a try. Didn’t add any type of syrup (my Ma isn’t a fan) and the cookies are the best I’ve ever made! My Ma said she’s no longer buying store-made and packaged cookies. I sprinkled some sea salt flakes over some of my cookies also. It just add a little unexpected extra to an already delicious cookie.

I just took these cookies out of the oven and they baked beautifully. I made mine slightly smaller so 9 minutes was perfect. I made half with chopped pecans and chocolate chips, and half with only chopped pecans. The pecans only are my favorite. They go so well with the flavor of the dough. luckily I have Vermont maple syrup that a friend gives me every Christmas. Even tho it took a lot of arm muscle stirring this dough (I’m 83) it was so worth it. Thank you for a fabulous recipe. I also made your peanut butter cookies a couple of weeks ago. They were also delicious. Shared with some teenage boys who had never had peanut butter cookies and they loved them. I love just sitting and reading your recipes!!

I am always on the lookout for new and delicious cookie recipes, and after trying and loving your butter pecan cookies, I decided to try your worst chocolate chip cookie recipe. Oh my goodness, so delicious. I even sprinkled a little bit of sea salt flakes on top, which added the perfect touch.

In reply to Evelyn. Hi Evelyn! The sugar does add sweetness, but also helps the cookies spread. I'm not sure how they would turn out if you eliminate the sugar completely.

I tried these cookies because I had extra maple syrup (imitation) after a pancake breakfast. They were delicious! This recipe is a keeper, but next time I will use real maple syrup, as that’s what I normally have on hand.
